If he could, you know Archie would thank you with a big, wet smooch.

Because everyone who helped buy him a protective vest is helping keep safe a loyal K9 - and good boy - who’s been keeping the community safe.

Archie’s human partner since 2022, Oregon Police officer Alex Koratko, recently applied for a fundraiser through “Keeping K9's in Kevlar,” a non-profit organization that raises money to fund police K9s new Kevlar vests.

Koratko said many people in the community came together to help raise the $2,784 needed for the vest for the 2-year-old German shepherd. That included the Oregon High School Class of 1993, which put on a concert and silent auction “that was a lot of fun to attend” and raised $1,000. Two girls donated $100 from a lemonade stand.

“These vests are K9 Storm vests and are some of the best made,” he explained in an email to the Observer. “I am working with the company getting Archie sized and he should have his vest soon!”

Oregon’s iconic “Tin Man” water tower is about to get its own “Mini-Me.”
